Labor of Love

- - - Thursday, June 25, 2009
Last night was our first birthing educational class called 'Labor of Love'. We'll be going every week for the next 4 weeks to learn everything about babies and how they come into the world and all the options available to us when the big day arrives. The class is at the hospital where I'll deliver and they gave us a tour of everything including the nursery where a brand new baby had just been brought in....couldn't have been more than a couple hours old. So sweet! I have to admit I got a little teary eyed when they held her up show us.

But the best part of the class was at the beginning when the instructor brought out the pregnancy simulation outfit and asked if any of the fathers would like to wear it for awhile. It gives the dads a chance to experience what the mom has to go through carrying an extra 30 pounds around and also puts pressure on your bladder and makes it hard to breath. All the wonderful things that happen during pregnancy! So when they asked for the first volunteer my very brave husband raised his hand to go first. How friggin' hilarious! They even put a smock over it like a maternity top so it really gave the full affect! Paul said the worst part was the fake breasts on it.....they were scaring him a little bit.

My only regret was that I didn't have my camera.....bummer! Maybe I can convince him to put it back on next week for the photo op......but I doubt it.

Happy Birthday to Me

It's my birthday today! So far it's been a great day...I slept late, then I went for a pedicure and the weather is perfect here today! A little pampering is always a good thing on your birthday.

Last weekend was fairly eventful. I was in Merritt, B.C. for the 6th annual Walk of Stars Gala fundraiser and got to sign the mural of me they have in town. There are murals all over the town of various country music artists and mine is on the side of 'Home Hardware' with Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Michelle Wright (who was also there signing hers mural). Other artists taking part were Bill Henderson (of Chilliwack), Victoria Banks, Aaron Pritchett, and One More Girl to name a few. We all sang a couple of songs each throughout the weekend and I had Paul with me so he sang with me as well. He and I haven't done too many performances together but we are planning to do alot more. In fact we've been writing songs with the hopes of putting them on a new project that will involve both us as  -- we're going to call ourselves 'The Jeffersons'. Cool, huh? We've discovered that we sing and write really well together so were gonna see if we can't make somethin' of it!  'Cause we're movin' on up...

In baby news, I had one more ultrasound the other day and everything is looking good...and one of the pictures had hair on it! Paul has wild unruly hair...so you never know!
